Types of Air Separation Unit (ASU) Packing

An Air Separation Unit (ASU) separates atmospheric air into its primary components: nitrogen, oxygen, and argon. The cryogenic distillation process compresses, purifies, and cools air to cryogenic temperatures, then distills it in a dual‑column system. High‑purity oxygen (up to 99.9%) and nitrogen (to ppm levels) are produced, along with rare gases like argon, neon, and krypton. Modern ASUs integrate advanced heat exchangers, turboexpanders, and molecular sieve purification to maximize efficiency. Product gases are supplied in gaseous or liquid form for applications in steelmaking, chemical synthesis, electronics, healthcare, and food preservation.

Why Build an Air Separation Unit (ASU)?

An air separation unit splits atmospheric air into core components including nitrogen, oxygen and argon via cryogenic distillation. The full process compresses, purifies and chills air down to cryogenic temperature, then separates components inside a double-tower system. It can manufacture high-purity oxygen (up to 99.9%), ppm-grade nitrogen, as well as rare gases such as argon, neon and krypton. Modern ASUs adopt advanced heat exchangers, turboexpanders and molecular sieve purification to lift overall energy efficiency.
