An Air Separation Unit (ASU) separates atmospheric air into its primary components: nitrogen, oxygen, and argon. The cryogenic distillation process compresses, purifies, and cools air to cryogenic temperatures, then distills it in a dual‑column system. High‑purity oxygen (up to 99.9%) and nitrogen (to ppm levels) are produced, along with rare gases like argon, neon, and krypton. Modern ASUs integrate advanced heat exchangers, turboexpanders, and molecular sieve purification to maximize efficiency.
